  On October 16, a cooperation signing ceremony focusing on the future development of the hydrogen energy industry was held in the Jiaxing Port Area. Honeywell, the Zhejiang Yangtze Delta Institute of Tsinghua University, and the Zhejiang Hydrogen Energy Equipment Manufacturing Innovation Center signed a strategic cooperation agreement. This marks the entry of the tripartite collaborative innovation in the hydrogen energy field—guided by the principle of "research for use, and research that is useful"—into a substantive implementation phase, injecting strong momentum into the upgrading of the Yangtze River Delta's hydrogen energy industry chain.

  Yang Xiangdong, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the       Zhejiang Yangtze Delta Institute of Tsinghua University, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. He stated that hydrogen energy is an integral component of the future national energy system and a critical pathway for achieving the "Dual Carbon" goals. The three parties will use this cooperation as a starting point to jointly build a new highland for the hydrogen energy industry characterized by digitalization, intelligence, and standardization, infusing robust dynamism into the hydrogen energy sector in Jiaxing and even the broader Yangtze River Delta region. Moving forward, the Institute will further leverage its dual advantages—rooted in Tsinghua's heritage and the resources of the Yangtze River Delta—to enhance resource alignment, focus on key core issues in hydrogen energy equipment, and concentrate efforts on tackling "bottleneck" technologies, truly translating research findings into industrial applications and delivering tangible outcomes on the production floor.

​​Five Key Directions to Build a New Hydrogen Energy Ecosystem​​

According to the agreement, the three parties will deepen cooperation around five key areas to advance the digital capability building of the Hydrogen Energy Equipment Innovation Center: platform construction, equipment support, industrial bolstering, technological exploration, and mechanism assurance. The collaboration aims to jointly promote the standardized, systematic, and standardized development of the hydrogen energy industry.

​​1. Digital Empowerment: Creating a National-Level Green Hydrogen Verification Platform​​

The three parties will integrate resources from the Jinhua Electrolyzer Test Base and the Jiaxing Fuel Cell Test Base to establish the "H-Flow Nexus" digital platform. This initiative will build an integrated demonstration system covering green hydrogen production, safety testing, and equipment certification, thereby advancing the standardization and systematization of hydrogen technologies.

​​2. Quality Foundation: Innovating Hydrogen Equipment Testing Standards​​

Leveraging the electrolyzer test platform, the collaboration will conduct verification for new processes, materials, and key technologies. A systematic evaluation framework encompassing performance testing and degradation monitoring will be established. Additionally, efforts will be made to advance the testing and evaluation of instruments and meters for green hydrogen, enhancing the industry's core capabilities.

​​3. Industrial Prosperity: Dual Drivers of Standards and Talent​​

The partners will jointly participate in the development of national and international standards for the hydrogen energy industry to promote normative development. They will also co-establish case-teaching and practical training bases to build a sustainable talent pipeline. Collaborative applications for national and local sci-tech projects will provide comprehensive support for innovation in the hydrogen sector.

​​4. Intelligent Leap: Empowering the Future of Hydrogen with AI Technology​​

By integrating AI, big data, and machine learning technologies, the parties will jointly develop off-grid energy management systems and explore predictive maintenance and full-lifecycle management solutions for alkaline and proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers. This will drive the intelligent upgrade of the hydrogen energy industry.

​​5. Long-term Engine: Dynamic Collaboration Mechanism for Implementation​​

To ensure long-term effectiveness, the three parties will establish a regular communication mechanism, facilitated through periodic meetings, to implement strategic cooperation efficiently. The framework will maintain flexibility and room for innovation, allowing for continuous expansion into new fields aligned with each party's development needs.

Synergistic collaboration among multiple stakeholders is a vital driving force for advancing the hydrogen industry and accelerating the energy transition. Each of the three partners brings distinct strengths from their respective fields of expertise: the Zhejiang Yangtze Delta Institute of Tsinghua University contributes profound capabilities in technological innovation, achievement transformation, and talent cultivation; the Zhejiang Hydrogen Energy Equipment Manufacturing Innovation Center acts as a key platform in the province, playing a critical role in R&D, pilot verification, and industrial promotion of hydrogen equipment; and Honeywell possesses globally leading technologies and experience in automation, digitalization, smart technologies, and hydrogen-related solutions.
